The End is Not the End; It is the Beginning

The following inspirational post was written from my Christian perspective. If you are offended by such content, please return next week for more satire stories.

Some people believe that when death comes, it is the end. There is nothing else. The body and the spirit cease to exist. The being becomes ashes or dust in the ground, which is marked by a tomb stone, forgotten when the generation passes.

I think about the 80+ years that an average human lives on this earth. Is this paradise? You may have a nice home with a perfectly kept yard which is your own little secure oasis. Outside of that secure area of protection, what do we have? We live in a world where pollution, disease, hate, war, global warming, and starvation are ever present. We make the best at adapting because this is what we must work with. If I believed that this was all I had to look forward to, it would be sad to know that this is as good as life gets.

I place my hope and belief, that being true to his promises, my God has prepared a perfect land for me to live in for eternity. I believe that the end of life on earth is not the end, but the beginning of my eternal life in the Kingdom of Heaven.

In the book of John in the Bible, chapter 11, verses 25 and 26, Jesus says, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die.” That is what I base my hope upon.

With my human mind, I can only imagine and dream. I know that my mind can only imagine from the perspective of that which I have experienced in my life on earth. I know that God has prepared someplace that will blow my mind. Here are some of the things that I hope I will find in the Kingdom of Heaven:

First: I will be met by the Lord Jesus and although I feel unworthy to be in his presence for my life of failures, he will still hug me and say, “Well done faithful servant.”

Second: I want to find all my family and friends who I miss and have waited for me. I want to rejoice with them. I want to be surprised by how many people, at my Welcome Home celebration, are those whose lives I never knew I affected.

Third: I want to have a perfect body. I want to be able to see colors as they are meant to be and to hear sounds clearly. I want a body that doesn’t hurt.

Fourth: I want to ask questions like why, and how. I want to finally know the answers.

Fifth: I want to explore every inch of God’s marvelous creation; to climb every mountain, to smell the aroma of the fragrant flowers and the scents of the forests. If it is possible to fly, I will definitely do that, just like Peter Pan, playing hide and seek in the cumulus clouds. Of course, just like my dad taught me how to become a pilot on earth, I will count on him to teach me in the Kingdom also.

Lastly, eternity is forever so I hope I am given a job to contribute to the works of the Father.

To me, death is nothing to fear because the other side of death is true life. So, at my memorial service let there be no sadness. Rejoice, have a party. Marty is in the Kingdom.

Thanks for this. John and I are looking forward to that experience. Except possibly piloting a plane.

AMEN, Marty! I might mention that Global Warming has been going on since the global flood in Noah’s day resulted in an ice age.

Heaven’s joys are greater than our human minds can grasp. I’m sure looking forward to finishing my race.
